Sadly, many strays roam the streets of Greece, never knowing what it’s like to have a home or a family to love them. There is also an abundance of abandoned litters of kittens. SCARS, a rescue organization, comes across them all the time. They’ve rescued more than 25 kittens within just one month. One of the SCARS volunteers has a rescue dog named Aragon. They would take Aragon for walks near the mountains, where many pets – kittens, puppies, bunnies, birds – were abandoned in cardboard boxes. The first evidence of dog's association with man is found at the Mesolithic site of Star Carr in England about 9500 B.c when the dog's superior sense of smell probably directed man to within bowshot of food animals. He won the “tallest dog in the world” title in the Guinness Book of Records in 2012. Zeus, the powerful black Great Dane with a shiny coat, lived for 5 beautiful years. Zeus passed away in September 2014, but is remembered for his loving nature and huge heart.  He was the winner of  the title of “the tallest dog in the world” and is featured in the Guinness Book of World Records.
