I Photograph Dogs To Show How Unique Every Single Of Them Is

My name is Elke Vogelsang aka Wieselblitz, I’m a commercial and editorial photographer from Germany. After a very stressful time in life, I decided to change my life for the better and become a professional photographer. I’m absolutely crazy about dogs. Thankfully, as a photographer specializing in dog portraiture, I'm now in the very lucky position to make a living from hanging out with dogs. A dream come true.



It never ceases to amaze me how unique every single dog is. Each and every one of them has its very special character, quirks, and personality. I try to portrait this in my pictures.

You might have come across my series of skeptical dogs, questioning the photographer's sanity. The series "Dogsonality" is an extension to this series adding numerous other facial expressions and moods a dog might show or we might interpret as such.

For eleven-year-old Hannah, a pit bull terrier-Labrador mix, life was getting harder to live. Suffering from seizures and riddled with arthritis in her hips, loyal, loving Hannah was also enduring side-effects from the medications she was on to control her seizures. Avid hikers Cynthia Bennett and her boyfriend adopted their dog Henry back in 2014. At first Bennett was going to pick a golden retriever mix, but then she came across Henry at an adoption event. He was only 14 weeks old, but already five times bigger than the other puppies of the same age. When she entered Henry’s pen he just curled up into her lap, went belly up and flipped his head over her arm. "They must have been freezing and it’s a miracle that they survived until they were discovered.” Back in September, Pablo and Penny (then called Pippin and Perdy) were only a few weeks old when someone put them in a bag, brought them to a random neighborhood around 9 at night and dumped them over a wall and into someone’s garden. They were abandoned in the freezing cold and rain as if they were nothing but trash, and were discovered around 2:45 a.m. and quickly taken in by the RSPCA. “The CCTV clearly shows a man walk past and then stop, before holding a carrier bag over the wall and tipping it out into the garden,” Sally Bamforth, an inspector with the RSPCA, said in a press release. “Then as he walks away, he pauses as the two tiny, disorientated puppies appear from underneath a bush and potter across the lawn.
